This service is available to individuals from their first menstrual period (menarche) up to 49 years of age, or up to 54 years of age for progesterone-only contraception. If you use the combined contraceptive pill, you will need to provide a recent blood pressure reading.

Yes. Free emergency contraception is available through the service if you've had unprotected sex or think your contraception may have failed. Emergency contraception may also be available separately through our pharmacy shop.

No. This service provides oral contraceptive pills only (combined and progesterone-only pills). For other methods, such as coils (IUDs), implants, injections, patches, or vaginal rings, you'll need to contact your GP or a sexual health clinic.

In most cases, yes. You will usually be prescribed the same medication you have previously used. The packaging or manufacturer may differ, but the active medication will be the same. If you'd like to discuss alternative options, our pharmacist can help.
